  1. Anxiety is something that everyone struggles with. Some people can self -talk through and some people become so paralyzed by it. It is a fascinating disease that no one ever really finds the cure. Rather you just learn to deal with it and make life work.

While there are therapists that can help you deal with it and try to help you make your life work…there is a crucial piece that is missed. It is REALITY!

They can put us on a positive track. Take those negative thoughts and make them positive. Yes, this is the key to making it through one of those life stopping anxiety attacks. BUT, do not be fooled that thinking positive is the only step to making it through and getting what we want out of life.

To get what we want we must be real. We must have that burning desire to do whatever it takes to reach that goal. Whether it be lack of sleep, from working a regular full-time job to pay the bills and working part-time to obtain our true goal. Or maybe we find that taking that entry-level job on that desired path, which makes us work hard to climb the ladder to reach the level that is what we wanted in the first place.

There is always a price to pay. We may pay the price of not making much money, but the payoff is the experience needed to make it further on the road we have set out to conquer. Our schedules may be so full that we see cross eyed because we are so tired. But, in life’s reality this is what separates those who make it to the goal and those who give up. It is the test. Like in college. Can you really handle that load? Can you get through all the: home work, reading, tests all while raising a family and working a job?

I have learned that the burning desire is derived from positive thoughts. This burning desire is not something that everyone has. Or maybe they do and they do not realize they have it and do not listen to it? This burning desire creates the confidence in us to actually get what we want.

We make our own destiny. Sometimes we feel caged. We end up in a relationship that is not good for us. It may change us and be leading us down a road that we did not set out to create. Getting off this road is tough. Sometimes when feeling caged we do not have a clear mind and can not see that there are options.

  2. This is where life can get messy. Deciding to change that path and start on a new road is important, BUT we must move with a planned vision that is REAL.

When growing up we are told that if we go to college we will be able to reach and live the American Dream.

We ponder this and move forward. Moving forward includes attending college.

This is the place that we become the most fucked up! Why because college is not a reality. The professors help us create a fallacy a dream that is not real.

They leave out the key components….this would be the key of “The REALITY of LIFE”! Professors have never held a real job. They teach from the pulpit, much like a preacher in church. They convince you that educated people are above all others. Our reality becomes distorted and we develop an ego. The ego is that we are better than the average person “cuz we are getting us one of those edumacated degrees.”

They teach us that Corporate America is the evil empire. Never mind the fact that the alumni that support the college are part of that Corporate Evil Empire. They forget that this evil empire is what most Americans depend on for their financial freedom. They forget that this evil empire is what supports ALL the non-profits and also pays the taxes for those that need the programs that are in existence because of the taxes that are paid by the evil empire.

Does a college professor actually work 50 hours a week? Most of them develop a curriculum that they use over and over and do not have to put effort into re-creating each time they teach the class. It’s like cruise control for life. They get to take time to write books and live in a fantasy world. Once tenured there is not worry about loosing their position.

They convince us that we are going to be whatever it is that we are setting out to be. We think that since we are getting this expensive education that we are worth so much and we will make so much money when we are done that life will be great!

Then we graduate and “The Reality of Life” sets in. We realize that jobs are not plentiful and making that high salary is not really going to happen. We will have to take something that we thought we would never take. It is a new panic of anxiety that we have never felt. OMG a new anxiety! Wow life is great!

  3. What now?

Sell out for that job that pays the bills that are piling up or take an entry level job in the field that we desire, but the money well it SUCKS!

As we take that first job and get into “The Reality of Life” it becomes paralyzing for those that expect more and have the burning desire.

For the majority it becomes the point of our life where we begin the minimum wage shuffle through life. We accept what we are given and expect no more. Working hard is the desire that has left our soul that we had in college.

If you are lucky to see the light, this is where we realize that life is full of struggles and nothing is handed to us. We must make our own destiny.

We begin to grow and learn about “The Reality of Life”. They did not teach us in college that the average American makes $25,000 per year. Mind you that is the AVERAGE American. To become above that we must work hard and we realize it is not what we learned in college, BUT WHO WE KNOW out in the world!

In reality who works a job that is fulfilling your life dream? If this was the majority then I do believe that anxiety would not be the world’s biggest disease. At least 90% of the world has a job that pays the bills. That is “Reality of Life”, but how do we make our own “Reality of Life” that is the real question we begin to conquer as we set out in life after college.

The satisfaction of being the best at what you’re doing becomes important. It’s funny how life starts to take over. The bills become the focus. After all, we have to pay them to survive.

Do we let this become who we are or do we find that burning desire and give everything we have to reach that dream we set out to reach? For many it is too much work and sacrifice. For those that achieve success the sacrifices are what get us there.

  4. When life begins….our house gets messy, we have kids they take over and then we wake up 19 years later and wonder what have I done? It feels like there are no options because the anxiety is so bad. BUT, somehow we realize that there are options. We see that there are things we can do to change this road and start a new one. It is a matter of methodical planning and being realistic.

When going through life the key is to be realistic and plan. Look at those around you. What have they done to get where they are? When looking at these people are they living the dream? What did they go wrong? Believe me…they will blame everyone else, but the reality is they did it to themselves. Remember…we make our own “Reality of Life”. We hate to admit that we would be to blame, but we are! No one else! There is no excuse!

Living a life with NO REGRETS is hard, but if you always think about NO REGRETS it will lead you in the right direction.

For those that you do look up to what have they done to get where they are? “The Reality of Life” is to learn from others. While reading a book to learn is a start take it to the next level and look at people in the world and learn from them. Getting involved in the world is the key to meet those that can guide you and teach you how to become what you want.

Now what…..find that burning desire and begin the journey to be what you set out to be long ago. Never let that dream fade!

  5. Interesting thoughts... It sounds like you believe in a world in which you have to fight and struggle to get where you want to be. I always believed that too. But now I'm wondering that if feeling like you're in a constant battle is more a state of mind than a reality. If you expect to have to struggle and sacrifice and battle to get where you want, then what you experience will be struggle and sacrifice and battle...
Thanks for the sharing. I wonder who you are and why you're posting anonymously...?
